Zocon precision weeders for arable crops

The new four-model range of tined harrows from Dutch manufacturer Zocon is available in working widths of 3.0m, 9.0m, 12m and 15m.Suitable for a wide range of crops, including sugar beet, onions and maize, all four PWs (Precision Weeders) are the result of collaboration with fellow Dutch firm Geertsema, which has made tined weeders for eight years. The focus of the development work was to install as many 7.0mm diameter x 57cm long tines as possible to the galvanised frame, and the seven rows on the 15m model contains 638 of them for a line spacing of 2.2cm. Tine pressure is adjustable from 100g to 5.0kg.Weighing just under 3.0t, the minimum power requirement for the PW-15 (15m) is 150hp. All widths fold to 3.0m for transport. Dutch prices start from €11,500 for the 3.0m model rising to around €32,000 for the 15m flagship. Options include a front linkage, electronic control with display and a 150l, 300l or 450l seeding unit.Zocon (Zonderland Construction) was founded in 2006 by Jochem Zonderland. Operating since 2012 from premises at Joure (north of Amsterdam), the Dutch firm’s extensive portfolio of kit includes tractor loader buckets, trailers, bale handling equipment, slurry scrapers, seeding units and tined harrows. The Dutch made machines are already available in Ireland through Alan Douglas Machinery at Enfield (Co.
