Different size bales not a problem for Orbital
Another machine McHale is launching at the Irish Ploughing is the Orbital twin dispenser, trailed wrapper. The actual film application is pretty much the same as the popular Fusion baler/wrapper combination, but with some clever features for loading and handling different size bales.
Currently designed to work solely as a trailed offset machine, the Orbital has a loading arm which swings around 90 degrees to hold the bale before lifting it onto the table. To reduce the lift height the front roller on the wrapping table swings back and down as the arm is raised. Once the bale is in position the arm is lowered and the front roller moves back level simultaneously.
The twin dispensers can operate at up to 40rpm, applying four layers of film to a 1.25m bale in around 20 seconds or six layers in 30 seconds. The loading arm can carry a bale while wrapping is underway and then automatically load it once the wrapped bale has been dropped off, helping maximise output.
For the unloading, the rear roller lowers the bale to the ground and thanks to this ability to move, the working height of the roller can be altered allowing it to work with bales measuring from 1.00m to 1.45m in diameter and still apply the film to the middle of the bale. The operator just needs to set the bale diameter using the Expert Plus control box.
